Dear Amazon Web Services, It's been fun, but Project Beryl is just so much cooler... And cheaper!

Project Beryl Update: It's Real (video) Apr 5, 2013 1:42am UTC
Dear Amazon Web Services,

The service you offer is a good one. On-demand cloud instances with configurable storage, snapshots, static (elastic) IPs, etc... All on a pay-for-what-you-use schedule. The problem is: You keep sending me these E-mails saying you've reduced prices, but somehow my monthly bill continues to increase.

With that being said, I've taken it upon myself to build my own server. It's fully virtual, so I still get snapshots and endless configuration options for storage and networking, but the difference is that I only have to pay the cost of electricity each month to keep it going (and considering that the processor is an i3-3220T with 35 watts max TDP, it's not gonna be that much).

Sincerely,
Harvtronix.com
(currently being served to this awesome viewer on a Harvtronix Beryl PC)

That's right! Project Beryl is now complete, meaning that the Beryl concept design that's been lingering in the PC section is now a real, functioning device.

In celebration of this lovely event, I've put together this short video taking you through a bit of the creation process.
